Pumpkin Bread

Pumpkin Bread (1)

I am currently doing the “Forest Gump” thing, but instead of shrimp it’s with pumpkin.  Pumpkin soup, pumpkin stew, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pie, and, more specific to this post, pumpkin bread.  It’s possible I could be diagnosed with pumpkin on the brain, but at this point that’s okay, because I have delicious pumpkin bread in my tummy too.  It’s moist, and goes well with a hot cup of tea or coffee on chilly fall or winter mornings.  Just what the doctor nurse ordered.

Yellow Cake with Chocolate Frosting


Today was the hubby’s birthday, so I wanted to show him I loved him with a healthified version of a yellow cake with chocolate frosting (his request). As you can see by the number of candles, he’s no spring chicken 😉 At the same time he’s more alive to me every year we spend together because our lives become more and more intertwined.

It used to be that when I heard the term Caesar Salad what came to mind was a picture of Julius Caesar reclining on an imperial sofa and eating a, you guessed it, Caesar Salad.  For some reason I always assumed that the Caesar Salad originated with those long dead Roman emperors and funneled down through the ages.

Eggless Salad

Raw Vegan Egg Salad

Sometimes I hear a phrase and it strikes me as being odd, so I Google it to see where it originated.  Case in point is the phrase “good egg”, as in “he/she’s a good egg”, meaning a good person.  Turns out this phrase became popular around 1900, but has it’s origins dating back to when the phrase “bad egg” was popular in the 1850’s.
