These raw superfood energy bars are amazing.  Enjoy them for breakfast, for dessert, or as a quick pick me up. When I saw them, I thought they’d be like a lot of the previous bars I’d had.  Many times bars like these don’t provide a cohesive bite, meaning they seem like a lot of good components put together that don’t quite come together.

As you probably know at this point, I’m not a huge fan of medicine and the pharmaceutical companies.  It’s not that they don’t serve a purpose, it’s just that I don’t subscribe to the “pill for every ill” and treating the symptoms instead of the cause of the problem.  I love preventative lifestyle medicine, not reactive phamacological interventions.  One of my biggest beefs with medicine companies though is that they’ve ruined the taste of cherry for millions of people.  Whenever people taste cherry, they immediately think medicine.

Berry Mango Smoothie

Berry Mango Smoothie

Yields: 3 (16 oz) servings


  • 6 oz organic blueberry
  • 8 oz organic strawberry
  • 1 mango, peeled, seed removed & cut up
  • 2 ripe bananas, peeled
  • 3-5 pited medjool dates, pitted 
  • 1 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1 cup ice
  • 3 tsp chia seeds 
  • 2 tsp hemp seeds 

How to make it:

Simply place all ingredients in a blender or Vitamix.
